New working uniform

Postby rabutcher on 29 Dec 2008, 21:13

I tried to find the article on the NavyTimes web site but of course can never remember all them user names and passwords. Anyway I got the latest issue with the new working uniform on the cover and notice that our shipmates are not happy with them, sounds familiar the same thing happen to the new PT gear. Who's making the decisions???? Talk about waste, fraud and abuse!!!!!! :unclesam: Sometimes I wonder if the upper COC actually test this crap out, I didn't like as a blue shirt back in the day when we changed the old school dungress to the straight leg slacks. The 1st day wearing them I ripped my pants on compartment equipment idenification holder. Just wanted to throw it out there......

Hmmm....are the Sailors that are asked about the changes standing in front of a bunch of Master Chiefs and Admirals? I guess they don't want to piss anyone off so they just agree that, "hey, those look great." Of course, the Sailors in question are most likely on shore duty and not really tuned in to what the opinions of the Sailors on the ships are.

Although, to toss in my 2 cents, I remember when I saw the pictures of the new PT uniform, I was like, "great, looks good, the material looks good, too." But the photos were deceiving as I thought the shirt was the same material that the Under Armor shirts are made of.

They should have sent selected NEX's several different versions of the PT uniform and let the Sailors come in, feel the material, see the quality, etc., and fill out a questionnaire in regards to the uniform. Same with any new uniforms that are going to be introduced.
If you visit Guam or are already here, send me a message. I'm always up for BBC (BBQ, Beer, Cigars).

I remember when Adm Zumwalt changed the uniform so ever one looked like Chief. It seems that the white hat didn't want to earn the uniform so they were issued it,what a very expensive mistake. When Zumwalt retired, although he had the new uniform in, he had crackerjack dressed sailors for side-boys.
